Statement:

The majority of my art, although it is abstract has developed out of an interest in
symbolism.  Researching this symbolism led me to a vast collection of work on primitive art
and mythology.     The directness, simplicity, and elegance of primitive art using minimal line yet
conveying such bold  and dynamic energy really attracted my interest.  While it was the magic and
mystery of the  themselves which served to inform and transform the viewer, it was the dynamic
use of line which totally engulfed my thoughts.   While pursuing the symbolism, I found the
challenge was   that the object began to break apart.  The inspiration
  which emanated from the
suggestion   or essence of the form became line and color.  It was with the spontaneity of
 drawing
Using the line as object and the background  as space that this series of work evolved.

                         It
became a matter of substance transformed in line and line into space.  So this  particular

body of work   became the transition of concrete physical elements of reality into the

simplification of color, line, and space.
